Not Just CAD
I did start this as a LinkedIn post, but then realised that it needed to be more than that, so here goes….
Not Just CAD (affectionately known as NJC) is building slowly in the background. Its origins were formed way back in the Blogger.com days, when I started a very simple blog called Not Just CAD to talk about AutoCAD, and sometimes even the rugby scores.
Since then, NJC has developed into a global blog, and most recently, a successful podcast, with some fantastic guests. Believe me, the numbers aren’t in the millions, but I am pleased with the progress so far. Rome wasn’t built in a day, right?
With a scheduled release date of Q1 2026, the Not Just CAD subscription platform will have THREE main areas for all subscribers: –

The Not Just CAD blog will remain, but there will be a huge amount of other content to read and digest and, most importantly, learn from. There will be blog posts from the NJC Founding Partners, full of specific content from each of their respective industries, plus an NJC Newsletter to remind you to check out items of interest out there in the CAD ecosystem

The existing Not Just CAD podcast will remain, and will remain as a ‘free to listen’ service, on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. However, we will have some exciting NJC goodness by way of EXCLUSIVE podcasts for subscribers only. These exclusive podcast episodes will include some of the pioneers and visionaries from the world of CAD, BIM, and not just CAD, discussing current trends, methodologies, and exciting projects from all over the world. Listening about what others do in your industry can be highly valuable, not just for motivation, but also for guidance and how to move forward in your own career.

As an Autodesk Certified Instructor (ACI) and LinkedIn Learning [in]structor, learning is something I am incredibly passionate about. NJC will offer its own branded content, as well as guide you to other incredible sources of learning, such as LinkedIn for Learning, Global eTraining, Udemy, and many others. I believe in a democratic approach to learning, and we all learn in different ways, and at different speeds. NJC wants to embrace that and give you as many choices to learn as it possibly can.

It’s not all about learning in the classroom or at AU either. It’s about being aware. It’s about having the knowledge to understand a concept. That can only be gained by reading, listening, and watching ALL of the content out there. NJC will guide you, and let you take that next step up with the knowledge you gain from being a subscriber.
To date, I am incredibly proud of the progress being made towards NJC becoming a ‘real thing’. This concept has been in my head for decades, and it is now coming to life. I cannot thank the current Founding Partners enough for their support and conviction, and their invaluable contributions to the NJC goodness!
